J J Carter on Anything

L.T.I.

Just a start, you can see more about the present school by going to my "Favorite Links" page and selecting "Independent University Alumni Association at Lowell".  I was on the Board of Directors and an officer, AND fund raiser for many years before stepping down.  The travel time several times a month from Connecticut to Lowell, Massachusetts was becoming too much.

While going through some old boxes, I came across these two pins, which I had completely forgotten I had ever received.  I remembered that I was the Distinguished Military Graduate, but I forgot about the other award.  The award on the left was at graduation in 1958, and the one on the right was from 1956.
The scale model of the F-102 on the left side of the page was from 1957.
What was surprising about these awards was the fact that I was anything but a "Gung Ho" military type.  I am glad I elected to go "Air Force" with its extra year of active duty, rather than taking a chance I wouldn't get drafted upon receiving my diploma.  Of course I am also glad that my "war" was the Cold War that never got too heated up.
While stationed in Iceland we were generally on "Yellow Alert" with our periodic "Red Alerts".  We really never knew when it might have gotten "hot".
