465th F.I.S.

The 465th FIS replaced the 49th FIS and was also located at L. G. Hanscom Field, Bedford, MA (near Lexington, MA)

465th Fighter Interceptor Squadron 465th FIS was activated on 18th February 1953 at McChord AFB WA with F-86Ds. It then inactivated in August 1955. Reactivating in October of the same year at Griffiss AFB NY, the 465th flew F-89Ds until converting to F-86Ls on 1st July 1959 at their new base of Hanscom AFB MA. The squadron was inactivated in March 1960. Assigned to 567th ADG, then to 4727th ADG on 8th February 1957, Boston ADS on 1st July 1959.
