When Merv Griffin passed away in 2007 (August 12, 2007), I recalled that I had made a sweater
for him in 1979. At the time he owned several radio stations in Connecticut, and we, Roosevelt Mills, advertised on
them. When I learned he was planning to visit the local stations, I decided to have the sweater in the picture made
just for him. The back of the sweater said "Merv Griffin Radio" and the front had "Merv" knit in.
The sweater was Jacquard knit which means the design is actually knit into the fabric,
as opposed to being embroidered or printed. Needless to say that this was an expensive sweater to make since only one
was made.
The three pictures on this page show Merv receiving the sweater, and the letter and envelope I
later received from him. The fourth picture shows the battery of Jacquard machines. one of which made the sweater.
